(Mar. 09, 2010 / Lake Pat Mayse, TX )... The second tournament of the North Region of The 2 of Us was held, Saturday, March 6. Anticipation was high for a good day of fishing since the sun had shone all week and temperatures were mild. Saturday was a bit cool, sunny until later in the day, and it was breezy once the sun got up. Once again our anglers had a tough day of locating biting fish and no limits were weighed in.

Like last month's event on Texoma very few fish were caught and only seven were brought to weigh in - and no limits were caught. One couple caught a turtle while another caught a very large "goldfish". One of our ladies had a heavy fish on early but never got the chance to see it.

First place went to Dan and Terri Jezek weighing in three solid bass for a total of 8.95 pounds. Terri won Ladies' Big Bass with a nice 3.13 fish which she caught on a Chatterfrog. For their efforts, they were rewarded with $294 for first place and $24.50 for Ladies' Big Bass along with a gift certificate from Brannan's Bass Shop in Powderly.

Second place was won by Kyle and Ann Johnson with a nice largemouth weighing 3.64 pounds caught by Kyle early in the day on a red Rat-L-Trap. Kyle won Men's' Big Bass with this nice fish. He received $24.50 for Ladies' Big Bass along with a gift certificate from Brannan's Bass Shop in Powderly. The Johnsons also were awarded a check for $75 courtesy of BC Steel.

Third place was won by Barry and Tami Grigg with a nice largemouth weighing 3.18 pounds which Barry caught on a white with chartreuse spinnerbait a little after 1 p.m. The Griggs won $25 courtesy of BC Steel.

$25 Crucial Tackle gift cards were won by the teams of Callaway, Grigg, and Johnson. A $10 gift certificate from Double ZZ Lures was won by Scott and Julie Callaway. Each team received a tackle pack of items from Stanley Lure Company. A big THANK YOU to our generous sponsors!

The side pot was split by the teams of Kyle & Ann Johnson and Jesse & Kathy Timmons with each taking home $35 - just as they did at last month's tournament on Texoma.

The next tournament will be on Lake Bonham on Saturday, March 27. For those not having a current Lake Bonham permit, one source for purchasing the required annual $8 permit is through North Region sponsor Crucial Tackle - by phone or online. Check in and livewell check will begin around 5:45 a.m. The Metroplex Region also will hold its Bonham tournament on the same day so there will be more boats launching. Give yourself a little extra time. 6:54 a.m. is the projected time of Safe light and, assuming safe weather conditions permit, the tournament will begin at or near that time. Take off will be by boat number.
